30.08.2019, Tbilisi – “Our partners are fully informed and they have put in place all mechanisms to resolve the situation peacefully, without any complication” – Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani said commenting on the recent developments in the village of Chorchana.
According to him, the Foreign Ministry remains in contact around-the-clock with Georgia’s European and American partners updating them on the developments on the ground.
“It is necessary to de-escalate the situation. All parties involved in this process, I mean representatives of the occupied regime, must approach the situation more responsibly and show utter responsibility within the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism, because responsibility for de-escalation rests with the party exercising effective control on these territories” – Zalkaliani said.
According to him, all parties concerned are involved in resolving the situation, including the participants of the Geneva international mechanism. “As I speak now the OSCE special representative is attending the meeting. The EUMM is also present. I keep communicating with my colleagues. It is necessary to keep calm in the given situation and to prevent the forces focused on escalation from putting the situation out of control. We have therefore put all available mechanisms in place” – the Minister said. David Zalkaliani made his comment on the developments in the village of Chorchana following his meeting with the newly-appointed Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Georgia.
