In 2022 Bangladesh and Georgia will proudly celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and friendship. In celebration of this auspicious occasion, with the encouragement and suggestion from His Excellency Archil Dzuliashvili, non-resident Ambassador for Georgia in Bangladesh, the Hon. Consulate of Georgia in Bangladesh had the opportunity to be acquainted with the greatest poem “The Knight in the Panther’s Skin”, written by the eminent Georgian poet named Shota Rustaveli.
This poem is the best of Georgia’s cultural heritage and illustrates the historical ties that have connected our regions throughout the centuries. This poem is well-known for phrases, wise sayings, aphorisms and splendid creative images. It talks about the renaissance of humanistic ideals.
The Hon. Consulate of Georgia in Bangladesh decided to celebrate the 30 years of a long friendship between the two countries by translating this great poetic work into Bengali, that the Bengali people can also enjoy and share the experience of this masterpiece with the Georgian people.
The Embassy of Georgia in New Delhi would like to thank Mr. Md. Taherul Islam (Taher), for the successful translation of the book. The Embassy would also like to thank Mr Mahmudul Hasan, the artist who illustrated the vivid paintings for the book and infused the picture asper Bengali Subcontinental culture.
The book shall soon be published and shall be inaugurated by The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh, and Ambassador Archil Dzuliashvili. The book shall also be distributed to all corners of the world to Bengali readers for their enjoyment.
