The official reception in New Delhi, India dedicated to the Independence Day of Georgia
On May 27, 2024, an official reception dedicated to Georgia's Independence Day was held in New Delhi, the capital of India.
In his speech, the Ambassador of Georgia expressed his gratitude to the participants for respecting and supporting Georgia's independence. He focused on Georgia's unwavering and future-oriented choice to peacefully restore Georgia's territorial integrity and become a full member of the Euro-Atlantic space.
The ambassador spoke about relations between Georgia-India, the growing dynamics in trade and tourism. He emphasized Indian students’ interest in Georgian higher education institutions. The ambassador expressed special gratitude regarding the decision of the Government of the Republic of India to open an embassy in Tbilisi.
The Indian Government was represented by the chief guest, Hon'ble Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture, Mrs. Meenakashi Lekhi. In her speech, Her Excellency reviewed the historic ties between Georgia and India, the transfer of the saint Ketevan's holy relics to Georgia, her visit to Tbilisi, the growing interest of Indians towards Georgia and the prospects of future cooperation.
The reception was attended by about 200 guests, including Ambassadors and members of the diplomats corps, officials of the Ministry of External Affairs and other Ministries, members of Georgian diaspora, journalists, representatives of Indian business and culture, Honorary Consuls of Georgia.
During the reception, two open tickets for the Delhi-Tbilisi-Delhi flight by “Indigo Airline” were drawn.
